Get ready for Sharly Chess version 5!

Since the release of version 4.2 in early June, the Sharly Chess developers have been working hard to bring you version 5 soon, featuring a host of new capabilities:

  • Team competition management (a highly anticipated feature), allowing you to manage both individual and team events using a single tool. All team competition formats are supported: Swiss system, single and double round-robin, and the Molter system (supporting up to 25 teams, 12 players per team, and 24 rounds!), with rule sets tailored to specific FFE competitions (Jean-Claude Loubatière Cup, Mixed Cup, Women’s Interclub);
  • Fully automated application updates, ensuring seamless data migration from previous versions;
  • An improved web interface that is faster and more intuitive;
  • Open and women FIDE titles can now be assigned to women, with both titles taken into account into norm reports;
  • Enhanced management of fixed tables and prizes;
  • Simplified screen creation, plus a new Chess 960 screen type that displays starting positions to the players;
  • Additional features, such as the ability to upload all documents (player lists, pairings, ranking, etc.) to a custom server.

A beta version is already available online, and we are looking for testers to try out these new features. Feel free to contact us and join our Discord to get an early look at this new version, we look forward to assisting you!

In the meantime, you can go ahead and update Sharly Chess to version 4.2.7; this is an essential step for the upcoming transition to version 5.

We wish you a wonderful August and a great French Championship in Vichy if you are lucky enough to be participating, and we look forward to seeing you soon for the official release of Sharly Chess 5.0!
